Hainan Volcano Park is the country's first volcano-themed geo-park. The park boasts the sites of more than 40 volcanoes and 30 volcanic caves. Vegetation, soil, lava, mineral water and hot spring are the five treasures in the volcanic area.

Hainan is home to nearly every variety of volcanoes in the world. According to research, the volcanic eruption in the area started from early Tertiary period of Kainozoic era, about 65,000 thousand years ago, and lasted till the Holocene of Quaternary period, about 13 thousand years ago.
