US plane makes emergency landing at Tokyo airport

A passenger plane of the U.S. Northwest Airlines made an emergency landing at Narita International Airport east of Tokyo Tuesday evening after smoke was detected in the cabin.

None of the 403 passengers and crew was hurt in the incident, according to airport officials said.

The plane made the emergency landing at about 8:00 p.m., 30 minutes after it took off for Manila.
