Hu Jintao meets with India PM

President Hu Jintao has met with Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, in northern Japan's resort of Toyako, where they are attending the G8 summit meetings.

Hu Jintao thanked Singh for India's help after China's earthquake. He also expressed sympathy to victims of yesterday's bombing at the Indian Embassy in Kabul. Hu Jintao said China and Indian share common interests and face some of the same challenges. The two countries also hold similar views on such issues as climate change, energy security, and food safety.

Hu Jintao said China wishes to enhance cooperation in various fields with India, and push forward Sino-Indian relations. Singh said India attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Indian ties, and wants to continue friendly cooperation with China, as well as contribute to global peace and stability.
