Halkia won gold in the women's 400 meter hurdles event at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She has left the athletes' village in Beijing and won't compete in the first round of the women's 400 meter hurdles event on Sunday.

IOC officials say the test was taken around August 10th when Halkia was in Japan to prepare for the Games. She is the fourth athlete to test positive at the Beijing Olympics.
