An official from the National Development and Reform Commission says the Olympics will not affect the momentum of China's economy. [Xinhua]



Wang Yiming,Deputy Director of the Academy of Macro-economic Research at the NDRC, says the Beijing Games will help the country to open up further and integrate with the global economy.

The Beijing Olympics are a golden opportunity for economic development in China. But investment in infrastructure and sports facilities will fall after the Games, and the tourism boom will also subside. Many observers wonder whether the Chinese economy will slow down after the Olympics.
