An earthquake hits southwest China's Yunnan Province.



The tremor, which had a magnitude of 5, struck at dawn in Yingjiang County in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture. The Provincial Earthquake Bureau pinpointed the epicenter in Sudian Township, about 46 kilometers from Yingjiang. Many houses reportedly collapsed in the township.

Several other nearby towns also reported damage. There are no reports of casualties so far and the full extent of the destruction is still being assessed.
