They also visited a community which provides services for the disabled.

Chinese Paralympics athletes are making final preparations in a training center in eastern Beijing's Shunyi district. More than 300 disabled athletes will compete in all 20 events, and for most of them this will be their Paralympic debut.

Hu Jintao watched their training, asked about their preparations and offered encouragement.

Hu Jintao said, "The Beijing Paralympic Games will soon open, and today we come here to cheer for you. I'm deeply moved to see you all training so hard. I hope you will maintain the spirit of challenging yourselves and trying to win. With hard and scientific training, I hope you will show the world the Chinese spirit in the Games."
