The handover from Beijing to London will officially take place during Sunday's closing ceremony, with the Olympic flag turned over to London Mayor Boris Johnson.

On Tuesday, Johnson opened the first Olympic legacy venue for London 2012, the Redbridge Cycle Circuit.

Richard Arnold, UK Olympic Delivery Authority, said "This is very much a facility aimed at the community and for cycling clubs to have and to use, and clearly get people inspired by the sport, and take part in it for many years to come, so this is all about finding athletes of the future, but also enabling people to take part in the sport."
