In the US, NBC's prime time audience reached nearly 30 million,-- the highest since the 1996 Atlanta Games.

When Michael Phelps won his eighth gold medal in Beijing, 40 million viewers tuned in. That broke an 18 year old record for a Saturday audience.

The Olympic Games also is setting viewership records in many other countries. In South Korea, audiences are up 8 percent over normal.
