The Association for Southeast Asian Nations and China announced on Wednesday that they made substantive progress in negotiations on a bilateral investment pact.

The agreement is expected to be signed at the Bangkok Summit in December this year. The investment pact is one of the three components of their bilateral free trade agreement.

The other two components were resolved in 2004 and 2006.
