More than 4,800 people have been relocated out of the quake zone.

Local authorities say more than 1,000 aftershocks have been monitored, including one that measured 5.4 on the Richter scale. Affected areas include Lhasa, Xigaze and Shannan, where 28 kilometers of road and 11 bridges were damaged. More than 4,800 people have been relocated out of the quake zone.

The central government has allocated 10 million yuan, as well as tents, quilts, and other relief materials. The direct economic losses are still being assessed. Seismologists predict more aftershocks will hit Damxung, but the magnitude is unlikely to exceed 5.5.
