Gilles Duceppe, BLOC Quebecois Leader, said, "I'm pretty optimistic, and I ask people to vote, and I repeat we are the only party capable of stopping a Stephen Harper majority and we are fighting very hard in every region and in every riding of Quebec today."

Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper called the vote early last month in the hopes of winning the 155 seats needed for a majority in Parliament.

Despite positive statements from other parties, polls have shown the election is likely to produce the third minority government in four years, and give Harper a renewed mandate.

In the lead-up to the vote, campaigning has focused on who would be the best manager in increasingly troubled economic times.

The latest poll projects the Conservatives will increase their seat count in Parliament at the expense of the main opposition Liberal Party, but would still be almost 20 seats short of a majority.
