Adjust font size:

Two people remain missing after a snow storm began Sunday in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The heavy snow has blocked roads in many places.

Armed police are struggling to clear roads and restore traffic. As of Monday evening, the Sichuan-Tibet road had 160 kilometers covered with snow. Snow drifts on the roads were up to one meter deep.

The storm caused a power cut in Bomi County. About 60 people and 20 vehicles were stranded on a road from Bomi to Medog County. A Medog county official says two people who were stranded went missing after they attempted to leave on their own.

The regional meteorological bureau said most parts of Tibet would have heavy snow on Monday.
