The chairman of Taiwan's New Party, Yok Mu-ming says the mainland's chief negotiator's visit to the island last week cleared a way for greater economic growth in Taiwan.

Yok Mu-ming says the agreements reached during Chen Yunlin's five-day visit to Taiwan could boost economic development.

Yok Mu-ming said, "The signing of four agreements on direct shipping, air transport, postal services and food safety, opens the door of exchanges between the mainland and the island. It also hews out a way for Taiwan's economy during the crisis."

Yok says the majority of Taiwan residents support the two sides holding talks and reaching agreements on issues of mutual interest.

Yok Mu-ming said, "Most Taiwan people are sincere, because they benefited Taiwan."
