In short-track speed skating, Chinese skater Wang Meng took the women's 500 meters race with a new world record at the China Open on Saturday, the third stop of the six-leg World Cup series.

In short-track speed skating, Chinese skater Wang Meng took the women's 500 meters race with a new world record at the China Open on Saturday, the third stop of the six-leg World Cup series. 



At the women's 1500 meters final, China's Zhou Yang won a silver medal for the hosts, and the gold went to South Korea's Jung Eun-Ju.

At the men's draw, Canadian skater Charles Hamelin produced a memorable performance to win the men's 500 meters. China's Wang Hongyang finished third. At the men's 1,500 meters, South Korean Sung Si-Bak edged past Canadian Olivier Jean by .005 seconds to gold medal.

So far, China has grabbed one gold, two silvers and one bronze in total from the Saturday's four finals.
