Ancient Buddhist temples in Beijing
Adjust font size:

The layout of the complex is influenced by a combination of traditional Han, Tibetan, Manchu, and Mongolian architecture. The Hall of Falun houses a huge white statue of Buddha made of one massive piece of sandalwood. This and the Buddhist Shrine in the Zhaofo Tower carved from valuable wood are the two most precious wood carvings of the Yonghegong Lamasery.

The Yonghe Temple is arranged along a north-south central axis, which has a length of 480 meters. The main gate is at the southern end of this axis. Along the axis, there are five main halls which are separated by courtyards: the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Harmony and Peace, the Hall of Everlasting Protection, the Hall of the Wheel of the Law, and the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses.
