The film is regarded as the Chinese version of "Schindler's List". It's based on the true story of a German businessman, John Rabe, who saved more than 200,000 Chinese during the Nanjing Massacre in 1937. Well-known actress Zhang Jingchu plays a female college student. Zhang made her name known the award winning film "Peacock".
