Heat wave continues in India
Adjust font size:

India is experiencing an extreme heat wave across much of the country. Soaring temperatures have made life miserable for people in the central city of Gwalior.

A person quenches his thirst by drinking lime water from a road-side vendor, in New Delhi, India, Friday, May 1, 2009. A scorching heat wave has swept through several Indian states leading to at least 18 deaths, the weather department and officials said Friday.

The weather department says the temperature recorded there was between 42-45 degrees and it would not improve in the coming days. The unusual heat wave forced people to remain indoors, making roads in the city look deserted.
