Ahead of his arrival, President Lula emphasized three key components in the strategic partnership between China and Brazil, which was forged in 1993. They were trade, scientific cooperation, and coordination in international affairs. The Brazilian leader hopes the partnership will broaden cooperation between the two countries and with other emerging economies. He envisions a new global economic, scientific, and trade landscape for the 21st century.
