Urumqi return to normality
Adjust font size:

The regional capital city of Urumqi is returning to normality. Paramilitary police are patrolling the city on the ground and in the air.

Our cameras got a birds-eye view from a patrolling helicopter on Thursday.

It shows order has been restored around major tourists sites in Urumqi, including at a landmark bazaar. Major roads have been cleared and show light traffic.

Armored police and public security guards are visible on the streets. And, there appears to be more people out on the streets than on the previous day.

Helicopters have been patrolling over the city ever since the riots, cooperating with ground troops to prevent any more violence.
