Head of International Mozarteum Foundation, Ulrich Leisinger, said, "We have here the first orchestral movement by the young Mozart, even though the orchestral parts are missing, and therefore it's an extremely important missing link in our understanding of Mozart's development as a young composer."

Mozart, who was born in 1756, began playing music at age three and composing at five.

Before his death in 1791 at the age of 35, he had written more than 600 pieces of music.

This is not the first time in recent years that works by Mozart have resurfaced. Last year a library in Nantes, France reported finding that a musical score was a Mozart original rather than a copy as had been thought.
