China power use in August up 8.2%

China's electricity use during August surged 8.2 percent compared to year-on-year figures.

The National Energy Administration says electricity use jumped just over 1 percent from July. Total power consumption during August tipped 346 billion kilowatt hours. Leading up to September, the country has used 2.3 trillion kilowatt hours, up point 4 percent year-on-year.

China's new energy power generating capacity has increased this year by 410 million kilowatts. Output capacities from hydro-power generators and coal fire power plants have climbed 102 million kilowatts and 270 million kilowatts respectively.
