The countdown for the Shanghai World Expo is heating up. Now at the 200 day mark, a record 242 countries, regions, and international organizations have confirmed their participation. Preparations are moving at a feverish pace, with a trial run due to start in April next year.
Major construction has been completed on the core buildings of the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Interior decoration has begun at the China Pavilion and the Theme Pavilion.
The China Pavilion has drawn up a preliminary plan for its interior design and display. Similar work is also underway at other pavilions, with a completion date set for the end of March of next year.
The structure of the Hong Kong SAR's Pavilion has been completed. The pavilion has three exhibition levels, each highlighting a different aspect of the connectivity and creativity of the Special Administrative Region.
Out of the 42 pavilions built by individual exhibitors, major work has finished on 20. The joint and individual pavilions built by organizers are expected to be completed in the second half of this year. All construction will be completed by the end of the year.
