Craig Sidell, New Yorker, said, "It's quite clever what they do, and it seems to be for a great cause. We were actually thinking about maybe joining this some year and trying to do our own sculpture."

The contest is held in cities around the United States. Visitors are encouraged to bring a donation of food.

However, the architects have little time to marvel at their work as the structures are torn apart and donated to local food banks for distribution to soup kitchens, the elderly and day care centres by the Canstruction food charity.
