Leading cast members Tao Hong, Miriam Yeung, and Alan Tam joined forces to promote the comedy at the premiere. Actors extended their wishes for a prosperous new year to the crowd.

"Fortune King is Coming to Town" consists of three romantic yet hilarious stories that happen in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenyang. The title role is played by Alan Tam, whose human incarnation gives monetary support to people confronting financial difficulties.

What impresses movie critics is Tam's chic look in the film. He is required to wear an extremely exaggerated hair style with his hair dyed red.

Tam says the color red symbolizes auspiciousness and good fortune. And he hopes his on-screen look brings more laughs to cinema-goers.

Tam adds he'll be returning to the music industry soon.

Alan Tam said, "I'll join other Wynners members in holding a gig in Taipei on March the 3rd. And then in the coming two months I'll team up with Hacken Lee touring around coastal cities such as Ximen. I'll be holding a solo concert in July in Hong Kong. I'd love to have the support of you all."

Alan Tam was born in Hong Kong in 1950 to renowned football player Tam Kong-pak. During the 1980s Alan Tam played a major role in developing the cantopop scene as he was known for singing romantic ballads with modern arrangements. Tam won Most Popular Male Singer four years in a row from 1984 to 1987. Since the late 1980s he has served as a mentor for the cantopop music industry, and earned the nickname "Principal Tam" proclaiming he's forever twenty-five years old.
