Several companies have already recognized the commercial opportunities behind China's new regulations on its low-altitude airspace for aviation. On Wednesday, the first Fixed Base Operator in China opened in Zhuhai.

This ceremony marks the opening of the first FBO in China. FBO or fixed base operator is an item which is common in the international aviation industry but is still quite new in China.

Jiang Li, Director FBO, said, An FBO is the primary provider of services to general aviation aircraft. They are usually located at or adjacent to an airport. They may be private enterprises, or run by a specific municipality or city. FBO businesses traditionally offer aircraft refueling, parking and seasonal storage. Other services may include flight training and aircraft sales, rental, maintenance, hangar storage, air charter and air-taxi. It’s very similar to the 4S franchise that exists in the car industry.
