Leading US wedding website The Knot is hoping to form a union between western and Chinese traditions with the launch of a Chinese version. Ijie.dot.com, named for the Chinese term for 'love knot', hopes to provide Chinese brides and grooms with a place to receive wedding tips, expert consultation, and a vendor directory, to ensure that their wedding is magical.

The website's launch in Beijing on Friday featured a bridal fashion catwalk showcasing Chinese and Western wedding gowns and marriage tips from Chinese celebrity couple Dong Jie and Pan Yueming.

Since its start in 1996, the Knot has grown into the leading wedding website in America. Now, it is venturing into China, home of the world's largest wedding market.

According to the China Wedding Industry Development Report, the Chinese wedding industry earns about 382 billion yuan or more than 57 billion dollars per year and witnesses more than 10 million weddings annually.
