As the first generation of children from the One Child policy enter marrying age, weddings are a highly anticipated occasion for their parents and grandparents.

On average, couples will spend an equivalent of 12 thousand US dollars on their wedding ceremony, and more than 80 percent of weddings combine Western and Chinese traditions.

Carley Roney, The Knot Co-found,said, "In China the weddings are kind of mixed up, they have the whole Western portion and then they have the Chinese banquet. But we of course don't cut the cake until the banquet's over, and so it'll be interesting to watch, it's about creating new traditions, it's not about bringing western tradition to China. I'm married to a Chinese man, we had a completely blended wedding and that's what we really believe will happen; new traditions will be invented that are a combination of western inspiration and true Chinese cultural tradition."

As the Chinese wedding industry grows and western influence becomes larger, The Knot and its Ijie.com counterpart hope that it can create and maintain a beautiful union with Chinese brides and grooms.
