Six people were confirmed dead in a mass shooting on January 9, 2011 in Tucson, the U.S. state of Arizona, which also left 12 others injured, including U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona. Police say Giffords was the intended target. A man opened fire outside a shopping center while Gabrielle Giffords was meeting constituents.
