2012 US Open: Li Na cruises into round two

At Flushing Meadows as the US Open is underway. China's Li Na, fresh off her win in Cincinnati a couple of weeks back was looking to continue that momentum on Monday as she started her run as the ninth seed against Britain’s Heather Watson.
Li comes into the final grand slam of the tennis season in form...and showed that form early on. She took control of the opening set right from the outset, keeping Watson pasted to her baseline. An early break got Li started...and she cruised to a 6-2 win in set one.
Li battled her way to a 5-3 lead in set two but with the Chinese just a game away from moving on, the skies opened up and play was halted.
The match resumed after almost two and a half hours, and Li wasted little time to end this one. Li, getting that game right away to close out Watson 6-2, 6-3...as Li begins her run with an easy straight sets win.
