Chinese leaders meet Egypitian President

Egypian President Mohamed Morsi is here in China for his first state visit outside the Arab world since taking office. He's held talks with Chinese leaders, exchanging ideas on issues of common concern. Economic cooperation was on top of the agenda.

Significant and groundbreaking.That's how top legislator Wu Bangguo regards Morsi's visit to China, the first state vist outside the Arab world.

Morsi is accompanied by a group of Egyptian business leaders showing his determinination to revive the country's economy after the turmoil.

Earlier this afternoon, Premier Wen Jiabao and Morsi agreed to expand economic and trade cooperation.

Wen told his guest how important his trip is.

Premier Wen said, “Your visit to China is a huge success, it is a historic move for both countries ."

Egyptian President, Mohamed Morst, said “I'm so glad that this trip has brought Sino-Egyptian relations to a new level, I believe that bilateral relations will definitely be better in the future."

Vice President Xi Jinping also held talks with Morsi.

Xi says Morsi's trip is an important one after the social unrest in Egypt.

Xi Jinping, Vice President, said, “Your visit to China is the most important one between China and Egypt after the political transition in your country, I believe this visit will enhance mutual trust and understanding."

Egypt and China have managed to maintian steady and robust cooperation throughout the years.

Egypt has long served as a bridge between China and the Arab world.

Last year, Chinese investment in Egypt surged to 80 million US dollars, up 60 percent from 2010.

Now the two sides have agreed to proceed with construction on big projects such as the Suez trade cooperation area, and enhance cooperation in a variety of areas including agriculture, transportation, energy and finance.

Deepening economic cooperation is one of the priorities of Morsi's visit. The two government signed eight cooperative agreements on trade and financing, infrastructure, manufacturing and tourism--that has brought the Sino-Egyptian strategic partnership to a new level.
