It's that special time of the year for fashionistas, as New York Fashion Week swings into action. On the second day we bring you the latest collection from designer Monique Lhuillier, who says she found inspiration from the Caribbean sun for her new fashion line. She also remembers late comedian Joan Rivers.
Pastel shades of pink, green and yellow softly carry designer Monique Lhuillier's Spring/Summer 2015 collection in New York on Friday.
Backstage before the show, Lhuillier explains her solar influence.
"For Spring 2015 it was all about this beautiful sunrise that I experienced when I was in the Caribbean. And you know, all of those beautiful pastels that you see right during sunrise. And that was the starting point for me with the colour pallet. And I wanted it to be bright, very reflective and shimmery and luminous," Monique Lhuillier said.
Metallic offerings gave Lhuillier's line a punch, and she peppers the effect throughout. Floral appliqué and beading are used to accent tops, dresses and collars on various looks.
