Two-time academy award winner Hilary Swank stars in a new film called "You're Not You". The fictional story is about Swank's character who is diagnosed with ALS, a disease that threatens her livelihood and also her life. Our Hollywood reporter caught up with the actress and her co-stars at the premiere, and found out that her role was much more than just the lead actress.

It's been a long wait for readers of the original novel You're Not You. The adapted feature film wrapped up its production in December 2012; and it took almost two years for this American drama to roll out its premiere red carpet.

Academy-Award winner Hilary Swank not only stars in but also produces You're Not You, a film which captures the heart of a very unique and unlikely friendship.

Hilary Swank plays the main character Kate, a suave, successful classical pianist just diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. When a brash college student Bec played by Shameless star Emmy Rossum takes a job assisting Kate, both women come to rely on what becomes an unconventional, sometimes confrontational and fiercely honest bond.

"I play Bec. She's kind of a messy college student who's aimless – doesn't know what she's doing until she answers an ad in the paper from a woman who is sick – that's Hilary Swanks character – and it changes her life completely," said Rossum.

"The message is to seize every day cause you never know what the future holds and if you have something in your bucket list, do it now."
