The Southern California theme park is putting the finishing touches together on an exact replica of the town of Springfield, the home of the Simpsons family.

"Everywhere you look, you recognize something from the show. All of us have grown up, at least the last 26, 27 years, watching The Simpsons. It's all here. You take a look at the unique circumstances we had to build -- a kind of very layered, dimensioned environment; that was the fun part. Such a rich palate to pull from," said Jon Corfino, project director of Springfield.

Parkgoers can salivate over the Homer-sized helpings of food.

Tasty new venues provide a wide selection for everyone to eat and drink like their favorite Springfielders. Between Cletus' Chicken Shack, Krusty Burger, and Suds McDuff Hot Dog Stand, there are towering bacon-double-patty burgers called The Clogger and giant hot dogs that will make visitors smile.

When it's time for dessert, there's a choice of ice cream sundaes or delicious donuts that are bigger than one's face.

Corfino also alluded to something else for fans to keep an eye out for in Springfield.

"There's a lot of little surprises. We have a lot of great visual paraphernalia; you're not going to see any of that anywhere else on the planet. Artwork from the actual animators on the show, very unique to the location," Corfino said.

The details aren't only in the food; they're ingrained in the venues. Homer's favorite hangout spot, Moe's Tavern comes to life, with a special Love Tester machine that's straight out of an episode of The Simpsons.

The dining area above Moe's pays tribute to one of the most famous Springfield celebrities, Krusty the Klown. One of the surprises Corfino mentioned is in the Krusty Klown room: caricatures by the animators of The Simpsons.

This immersive world is filled with more "woo-hoo!" than "doh!" moments and will impress everyone who comes to visit the hometown of the beloved Simpsons. Though it's hard to leave Springfield now, thanks to Universal Studios, Hollywood, you can always come back and visit.
