China offers emergency aids to Indonesia

Chinese government offered the emergency aids of 500,000 U.S. dollars cash to Indonesian government, according to a press release from the Chinese foreign ministry on Friday.

China's Red Cross also provided its Indonesian counterpart with 50,000 U.S. dollars cash, the press release says.

A 7.6-magnitude earthquake hit West Sumatra province Wednesday morning. The death toll caused by the powerful earthquake has risen to 1,100.

Chinese President Hu Jintao sent a message of condolences to his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono soon after the earthquake occurred.
