Chinese Ambassador to Austria Wu Ken held a reception in Vienna on Thursday to cerebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

More than 1,000 people attended the event, including Austrian guests, envoys of various countries in Austria, and representatives of overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded institutions as well as Chinese students.

Wu said in his speech that since the establishment of the PRC, China has made great achievements in the fields of economy, culture, education and society.

The goal of the Chinese government is to make the Chinese people live a happier, better and more dignified life, while achieving a sustainable development for China.

Video record of China's National Day parade was shown to the guests during the reception.

Deputy Chief Representative of Austrian exhibition delegation to the Shanghai World Expo Birgit Murr told Xinhua that since her first visit to China in 1986, China has experienced tremendous changes.

She said what impressed her most was not the changes in the Chinese economy, but the more open mind of the Chinese people.
