DPRK, Russian legislators seek closer cooperation

Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met his Russian counterpart Sergei Mikhailovich Mironov in Pyongyang on Tuesday, the DPRK's official news agency KCNA said.

During the meeting at the Mansudae Assembly Hall, Choe exchanged views with Mironov, chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, on boosting friendly and cooperative relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries and a series of issues of common interest, the KCNA said.

DPRK Premier Kim Yong Il also held talks with Mironov, the KCNA reported without elaborating.

Mironov arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday. Before leaving for Pyongyang, he told the Russian media diplomacy between the legislative organs would help strengthen the Russia-DPRK relations.
