The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a banquet in Beijing Wednesday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Albania.

CPAFFC President Chen Haosu hailed the two countries' "deep traditional friendship."

China and Albania withstood a number of tests and made continuous success since they forged diplomatic ties in 1949, he said.

Chen said his association was ready to work with all circles in Albania and take the anniversary as an opportunity to inject new vitality into bilateral cooperation.

Addressing the event, Albanian Ambassador to China Maxhun Peka also said he believed more achievements would be made in the development of bilateral ties in the future.

Yan Junqi, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, attended the banquet.

Albania is one of the first countries that established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
