Wen hopes European integration conducive to China-EU ties

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Monday he hoped the European integration would create positive influence on the growth of China-EU ties.
"We wish the integration process could continuously make new progress," Wen told the press after the 12th China-European Union (EU) summit.
The Treaty of Lisbon, equivalent to the "EU's Constitution", came into being in Lisbon in 2007, will enter into force on Dec. 1 as scheduled. Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy was unanimously elected on Nov. 19 to become the first full-time EU president.
Wen expressed his sincere congratulations on these two events.
Highlighting the significance of country-to-country cooperation in facing globalization, Wen said China and the European Union should establish a common belief to go hand in hand.
This would be good for the progress of the humankind, Wen noted.
The 12th China-EU summit was held in eastern China city of Nanjing on Monday. Premier Wen, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt met the press together after the summit.
