Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, met Tuesday with a cross-party delegation of senior Indian statesmen, led by Rao Inderjit Singh, chairman of India-China Forum of Parliamentarians, in Beijing.

China and India had no fundamental conflicts of interest, but shared broad common interests, said Han.

Maintaining peace and friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development not only conformed to the interests of both countries and their peoples, but also had a significant impact on world peace and development, he said.

As this year marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-India diplomatic ties, both sides should take it as an opportunity to advance their strategic and cooperative partnership, said Han.

The delegation is visiting China from Jan. 10 to Jan. 16 at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
