Son-in-law of Afghan Taliban chief arrested in Pakistan

Son-in-law of Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Muhammad Omar has been arrested in Pakistan's south port city of Karachi, intelligence sources said Thursday.

Son-in-law of Mullah Muhammad Omar, the prominent Afghan war lord, Motasim Agha Jan has been captured by law enforcement agencies in Karachi along with his two cronies, the private TV ARY News also reported.

Motasim Agha Jan was captured Thursday as intelligence agencies on tip off conducted a raid on a house at Ehsan Abad area of the city.

Jan is the former chief administrator of the Taliban regime in the late 1990s. He is also believed to be the Taliban's political and military strategist.

Two accomplices of Jan were also arrested in the raid and later shifted to undisclosed place for further investigation, the channel reported.

However, local police expressed unawareness about the arrest of Jan.
