Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with his Peruvian counterpart Jose Garcia Belaunde in Beijing on Friday, pledging to further promote bilateral ties.

China and Peru have seen increasing political trust, productive cooperation in various fields and close coordination in international affairs in recent years, Yang told Garcia, who is paying an official visit to China from March 25 to 29.

The two countries are looking for closer cooperation as the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement took effect on March 1, China's second free trade deal with a Latin American country after Chile.

"To further strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation complies with the interests of both countries and both peoples," Yang said, vowing to boost China-Peru strategic partnership to a new height.

Garcia said the two countries should take the opportunity of the free trade agreement to deepen cooperation in various fields. He also welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Peru and participate in energy and mining projects and infrastructure construction.
