Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan said in Beijing Monday China would increase its cooperation with Jordan in media affairs.

"This will help push forward healthy growth in China-Jordan relations," Liu, head of the publicity department of the CPC Central Committee, said when meeting with Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communication, Nabil Sharif.

Hailing the smooth development of China-Jordan relations, Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau and of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said Jordan, an Arabian country, is an important partner in cooperation.

Liu also spoke highly of the fruitful exchanges in the media sector between China and Jordan and other Mideast nations in recent years.

"Media cooperation is conducive to deepening our mutual trust," Liu said.

Sharif, who has signed a cooperation agreement with Xinhua News Agency during his visit, said he hoped to strengthen communication with Chinese media organs to help promote Jordan-China ties.
