A total of 97 instead of 96 people on board the crashed Polish plane were all confirmed dead, said Russian Emergency Situations Ministry.

"97 people -- 89 passengers and eight crew members were on board the Tu-154 that crashed. All of them died," the ministry said.

So far 64 bodies have already been identified, said the ministry.

Earlier reports put the death toll at 96, including 88 officials and eight crew members.

The Tu-154 plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski and other elite Polish officials crashed near Smolensk in western Russia on Saturday under foggy weather conditions.

The causes behind the tragic crash were being jointly investigated by Russian and Polish experts.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev may travel to Poland and attend the funeral of Kaczynski, said his press secretary Natalia Timakova on Tuesday.
