28 killed as bus hits electric pole in India

At least 28 people were killed and several others were injured when a bus they were riding hit an electric pole in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh Friday, a senior police official said.
"The incident happened when the packed bus with a steel cupboard tied to its roof scraped an electric wire, and turned into a giant electric shock for the passengers. The mishap took place in a small village near Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The bus was carrying a marriage party from village Doni to Sukaria," said the official.
All the injured have been admitted to a local hospital and the death toll is likely to go up, the official said.
