British Prime Minister David Cameron held a meeting with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday.

President Karzai is the first international leader who visited Cameron since he became the Prime Minister of Britain on Tuesday.

A Downing street spokesman said the two leaders discussed Karzai's visit to Washington, and the prospects for the peace jirga in Afghanistan at the end of May. Both of them agreed that " the relationship between Afghanistan and Britain should be further strengthened."

The talks were held at Chequers, the British Prime Minister's country residence.

Karzai just visited the United States from May 9 to 14, and the British Foreign Secretary William Hague also visited Washington on May 14, when he held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with Afghanistan topping the agenda.
