Thai troops fired warning shots and ordered protestors to leave Bangkok's main business district, local television reported Wednesday.

"Please leave the site immediately. Officials are about to conduct an operation," the military said on a loudspeaker, according to the Channel 9 television.

Thirty-seven people lost their lives during clashes between troops and anti-government protestors during May 14-18, in capital Bangkok, the Erawan's Bangkok Emergency Medical Service Center said late Tuesday.

Some 296 others were wounded as among these include both security personnel and civilians, Thai News Agency quoted the Erawan's center as saying.

Of the total injured, some 14 are the intensive care units patients, the Erawan's center said.

Thai troops are trying to pressure the anti-government protestors to end their over-month long rally.
