6.0-magnitude earthquake hits N. Peru

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted northern Peru early Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, which occurred at 0415 GMT, was centered 131 km north-northwest of the town of Moyobamba at a depth of 125 km. But there was no immediate report of injuries or damage.
