Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Wednesday assigned Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban to hold a meeting with all coalition parties to discuss problems and a cabinet reshuffle following the no-confidence vote.

It will take 1-2 days to discuss about these matters with the coalition parties, the Thai News Agency (TNA) quoted Suthep as saying.

The assignment was made after Abhisit and five other cabinet members survived the no-confidence vote earlier in the morning, but during which many MPs in the coalition abstain or make no vote.

Hence, a check will be made to find out how the MPs of each party in the coalition voted, the Bangkok Post's website quoted Abhisit as saying.

Suthep, in his capacity as the government's manager and secretary-general of the major ruling Democrat Party, will invite key members of the coalition parties to meet this week, Abhisit said.

The meeting will find out if there were any problems in their being part of the government and discuss about the cabinet reshuffle, Abhisit said.

Thailand's present coalition government comprises the Democrat, Bhumjaithai, Chart Thai Pattana, Ruam Chart Pattana, Social Action, and Puea Pandin Party.

During the no-confidence vote, Abhisit passed with 246 votes against 186 votes, with 11 abstentions, while Suthep survived with 245 votes against 187 votes, with 11 abstentions.
