Russia is disappointed that the U.S. and the European Union are planning to impose unilateral sanctions on Iran, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday, cited by Interfax news agency.

"We are extremely disappointed by the fact that the U.S. and the EU are not heeding our calls to refrain from such steps," Ryabkov told reporters.

Ryabkov also said that Russia will stop shipments of anti-aircraft missile systems S-300 to Iran, as the move has been prohibited under the UN Security Council resolution.

"We understand it as the resolution enacted a ban on shipment of these systems to Iran," Interfax news agency quoted him as saying.
